At Focus Eye, we’re dedicated not only to delivering exceptional Laser Vision Correction (LVC) results, but also to helping you maintain clear vision for years to come. That’s why in 2017, we developed Advanced Diagnostic Eye Testing (ADET)—a specialized appointment that goes far beyond a standard postoperative check.
Rather than a simple follow-up, ADET provides a comprehensive suite of advanced diagnostic assessments—eight precision evaluations that gather detailed insights into your eye health and refractive profile — for Laser Vision Correction patients.
“The benefit of ADET and the eight tests involved is that our doctors collect a broad spectrum of data on your eyes and your refractive errors which allows for treatment to be specifically tailored to your unique visual needs,” explains Dr. Ryan Wink, Lead Optometrist at Focus Eye. “The data collected also helps us track your progress and vision care requirements over time.”
We offer ADET free of charge at two key milestones in your care journey. First, during your initial consultation before your LVC procedure, so we establish a detailed baseline of your vision. Then again five years (or more) after successful laser correction, to detect any late changes—such as regression toward your pre-surgery prescription, progression of refractive error, or the onset of presbyopia—and to reassess your current visual needs.
“ADET also helps explain the trajectory of a patient’s vision,” Dr. Wink adds. “These tests help Focus Eye provide the best surgery options for the patient not just in the moment but also help predict long-term results.”
Vision can shift over time for many reasons beyond natural aging. Hormonal fluctuations during pregnancy or menopause, certain medications, endocrine disorders, and even changes in career or lifestyle can all influence refractive error. “Shifts in refractive error may also stem from systemic conditions including pregnancy, medications and endocrine disorders,” says Marc Lafontaine, Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist. “Career and lifestyle changes may lead to requests for adjustments in either distance or near correction that can be addressed by enhancement.”
When ADET reveals that your vision could benefit from a follow-up procedure, our surgeons will recommend a personalized retreat plan—often called an “enhancement”—designed to refine and renew your results.
Since 1992, Focus Eye has guided patients from their initial LVC procedure through more than a decade of ongoing vision care. ADET appointments are available exclusively to patients who received their LVC at Focus Eye. These assessments are typically arranged when an optometrist refers a patient after noticing vision changes or early cataract signs, but you can also call us directly to schedule your ADET assessment if your original LVC was performed here.
Whether you’re referred by your optometrist or book directly with us, ADET is your pathway to clear, confident vision—and the freedom from glasses you’ve been enjoying.
