Vision Issues
Select a condition to learn more
Myopia occurs when the eye has too much focusing power — the eyeball is too long or the cornea too steep. The image falls short of the retina, causing distant objects to appear blurred.
Hyperopia occurs when the eyeball is too short or the cornea too flat. The image falls past the retina, causing nearby objects to appear blurred or distorted.
Astigmatism means the eye has an uneven surface — shaped more like a football than a basketball. This creates more than one focal point, causing blurred vision at all distances.
Presbyopia is a natural aging process occurring between ages 40 and 50. The lens hardens and eye muscles weaken, making it harder to focus on close objects — often requiring reading glasses or bifocals.
